It has been said the the 1960's was the most significant decade
in history. Now, 40 years later, this was apparently an
understatement. The first Original Dave's Cosmic Subs
restaurant opened in 1997 in Chagrin Falls, Ohio by David
and Mary Ann Lombardy. "Cosmic Dave" had recently re-
turned to his home state after 15 years of stage acting and
singing lead in a rock band called "Foreplay" in first Los Angeles
and then in San Francisco.
"David", as his close friends call him, grew up in the food
service business. His father was an owner of "Seaway Foods", a
multi-million dollar business based in Cleveland.
Consequently, Dave knows his subs, and in his search
for the "ultimate sub that rocked", he tested multiple
combinations of top-of-the-line vegetables and prime
cut sandwich meats. He then created original far
out sauce recipes and wholesome breads to come
up with what he believes is the definitive gourmet
sub sandwich.
Every store incorporates Dave's groovy personal
influence from the moment you check out the
store logo, the classic rock concert posters and
background music, and the cool psychedelic artwork to finally
savoring the aroma and taste of his unique subs. "Dave's" is
all about first class quality from ingredients to service. It's a
"total immersion experience" at any Dave's Cosmic Subs store.
In 2000, Dave sold his first franchise store located at Fairmont
Circle in Ohio. In 2005 a store was opened in Atlanta, Georgia. Meanwhile, more stores were opening in Ohio, and multiple franchises have been purchased with even more stores planning to open soon. To put it mildly, "DAVE'S" IS A SERIOUS HAPPENING!
